About the Ride

The Old Ghost Road is a premier multi-day backcountry mountain biking and tramping trail in New Zealand. It traverses 85km of rugged terrain on the West Coast of the South Island. The trail follows an old gold miners’ route that was surveyed in the late 19th century but never completed—until now.

Riders will experience a huge variety of landscapes, from the Lyell Range’s native forest to the open tussock tops of the ghost towns, and down through the spectacular Mokihinui River gorge.
